After more than a decade, the third part in "Jeepers Creepers" series is going to release in theaters. The third entry in the horror franchise, about an ancient, homicidal creature known as 'the Creeper,' has got Francis Ford Coppola as a co-producer.
"Jeepers Creepers 3" is slated to start shooting in Vancouver early next year and the film will star veterans Jonathan Breck as the Creeper and Brandon Smith as Segeant Davis Tubbs, reported Variety.
According to IMDB, "Jeepers Creepers 3" will show events on the last day of the Creeper's 23-deay feeding frenzy, as the sceptical Sgt Tubbs teams up with a task force hell bent on killing the Creeper for good. The director of "The Godfather," and "Apocalypse Now" Francis Ford Coppola is going to co-produce the film. He was also an executive producer on both 2001s original "Jeepers Creepers" and to its sequel in 2003.
"Jeepers Creepers" was released in the summer of 2001 and earned $60 million against a budget of $10 million. In 2003, the sequel to "Jeepers Creepers" was released and earned $63 million against a budget of $17 million. Despite the success, the franchise went dormant after the release of "Jeepers Creepers 2."
According to Entertainment Weekly, "Jeepers Creepers 3" will be written and directed by Victor Salva.
In 2006 Salva told the Los Angeles Times that he pleaded guilty to a crime. "For almost 20 years, I've been involved with helping others, I've been in therapy, and I've made movies," said Salva.
"But I paid my debt to society... And all I can hope is that people will give me a chance to redeem myself," he added.
Coppola has not commented on any release date of "Jeepers Creepers 3."
