Walt Disney's "Mary Poppins" movie, released in 1964, was "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," The Hollywood Reporter said. Reports said that Walt Disney's "Mary Poppins" movie would be directed by "In the Woods" Rob Marshall himself. He would be joined by producers Marc Platt and John DeLuca who had "successfully shepherded Stephen Sondheim's Broadway" to the big screen, last year.

The new Walt Disney's "Mary Poppins" movie would be set around 20 years after 1964 "Poppins" movie, the reports added. The new story would "take its cues" from a book series authored by P.L. Travers from 1934 to 1988, EW reported.

Songwriters Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman popular for "Hairspray" and "Smash" had been picked to compose the original songs as well as a new score for Walt Disney's "Mary Poppers" Movie. "Life of Pi" writer David Magee had been engaged to write the screen play, EW reported.

Travers estate would also be collaborating with Rob Marshall and Disney to create the classic about a magical nannie. Richard Sherman, "Poppins'" co-composer who had penned down tracks like "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" and "Chim Chim Cher-ee" with his brother, Robert had also been roped in for the Walt Disney's "Mary Poppers" movie reboot.

The cast of Walt Disney's "Mary Poppins" movie has not yet been disclosed. However, Anne Hathway was a favorite suggestion to play the magical nanny, The Arts Beat reported. Reports also said that Disney would be recreating "a slew of animated classics as live-action films." Recently, a live-action version of "Cinderella" was released. The classic had raked up over $542 million worldwide.

The world of Walt Disney's "Mary Poppins" movie was revived on-screen by "Saving Mr. Banks," which was released in 2013. The movie had retold the tale of Walt Disney's and Travers' meeting in the early 1960's when Walt had persuaded Travers to transform the book series in to a movie.
