Angelina Jolie Meets Cambodian Meets Prime Minister For Her Movie ‘First They Killed My Father’

The 40-year-old actor cum director Angelina Jolie Pitt met the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen on Thursday to know about the brutal Khmer Rouge regime of 1970s.

Jolie met Sen at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, where the actress and the Prime Minister were photographed together exchanging handshakes. The actress who is also a humanitarian is said to be directing a film named "First They Killed My Father" based on the memoir of a human rights activist Loung Ung, according to People.

Jolie also spent time discussing things with the author Ung in her homeland lately. The actress is reported to be searching for locations in Cambodia for filming her story written with Ung's assistance.

For the past week Jolie has been working on the pre-production of the film "First They Killed My Father" that is to be shot exclusively in Asia which will have a Cambodian cast, according to an unnamed source, noted People. The source also noted that Jolie met Ung's family with producer Rithy Panh and also visited Bophana Centre, a Cambodian cultural and resource center.

Earlier this summer Jolie told Associated Press that "The intent of this project is not to revisit the horrors of the war but to bring to the screen characters that people around the world will empathize with, and to help other people to learn about Cambodia," reported IB Times.

Jolie noted about her adopted son Maddox who is a native of Cambodia that "Maddox will be on set every day after school and involved behind the scenes. He is my son but he is also a son of Cambodia. This is the time for our family to understand all that that means to him and to us." The actress also explained that "My desire to tell this story in the most truthful and accurate way possible will be my tribute to the strength and dignity of all Cambodian people."
