Famous Australian rapper, Iggy Azalea retaliates after her former guru, T.I. reportedly cut off his professional ties with her. On Thursday, in the New York's Hot 97 radio show, hosted by Ebro Darden, T.I stated that he "took a bit of a rest stop" from his business relationship with Iggy as consequence of all the criticism she had experienced for appropriating black culture.
Azalea has prominently been involved in quite a few twitter arguments with famous rappers and hip-hip legends like Q-Tip and Azealia Banks. Q-Tip who is one of the founding members of A Tribe Called Quest called out on her for alleged appropriation of black culture and her awareness on history of hip-hop, according to People.
In Azalea's defence, her mentor T.I. who helped launch her music career in 2012, clarified that she is mere victim to all the back lashing. It wasn't really her mistake and she just happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. It will be quite hard for any living person to deal with so many issues at the same time.
T.I. explained that "It's very difficult to be the new kid and to be the butt of the jokes and to be directed, like, be the direction of all the negativity, you know what I mean?... [Iggy] came at a time when culturally, this nation - she's not from here - we were actually looking for a source for somewhere to place some pent-up aggression," reported Entertainment Weekly.
Iggy Azalea took to Twitter reacting to T.I.'s statement by saying that she was unaware of any problem existing between T.I. and her until his radio interview. She still believes and hopes that the issue between them will be resolved soon. Iggy tweeted that "Here's the deal, I am still signed to @tip and do business with him."
Iggy also said "I'm sure tip will publicly clarify what he meant when he feels he has the right platform to do so and other than that, 'I'm chillin.'"
