Savile Row's Kent & Curwen announced on Wednesday that David Beckham has signed a five-year bond with the popular menswear brand. Beckham has signed the bond on behalf of Seven Global, the company owned by the retired footballer in partnership with Simon Fuller.
As a part of this collaboration, Beckham is said to be designing a capsule collection known as "Kent & Curwen, Inspired by David Beckham" exclusive for 2016 autumn launch. The collection inspired by the star footballer will include boy's clothing, eyewear and accessories. It is to be noted that the above mentioned wears would be priced nominally unlike the usual Kent & Curwen collection, according to IB Times.
Beckham told WWD that "I'm always looking to work with brands and companies that have a rich history and authenticity. When this authenticity is rooted in the country that I came from, it attracts me even more to the partnership." He also added that "What I love is that Kent & Curwen has a pedigree and excellence that has been passed through generations. Our aim is to build on its existing popularity and success in China and establish it as a powerful brand globally."
The 40-year-old footballer who is now an actor said that he is inspired greatly by simple and effortless style of dressing, be it a pair of jeans and T-shirt or a classic British style tailored suit. He also added that he had experimented with fashion when he was young but then growing old helps in understanding the style that fits and suits one better.
President of Seven Global, Jason Weisenfeld said in statement, "Beckham will be working closely with the design team, and his inspiration and influence will be felt throughout the entire business," clarifies that Beckham will not be sketching the designs himself but will be closely associated with the team in designing the collection. Weisenfeld also added that "Our partnership with Kent & Curwen allows for both David and Seven Global to participate in shaping the future direction of the brand."
