As "Gu Family Book" draws to a close, it's time to review this wonderful drama, which explored what it means to be fully human. For the drama's fans it may be hard to choose just a few favorite scenes. But the drama's actors recently thought about their favorite scenes and named the moments they will remember.
For Lee Sung Gi it was the moment when his half-human, half-mythical character Choi Kang Chi cried in front of his teacher Lee Soon Shin, played by Yoo Dong Geun. Choi Kang Chi had just received some advice about becoming human and on cue began to cry. But soon Lee Seung Gi wasn't just acting any more. He felt as if his tears were coming from somewhere deep inside. In response, Yoo Dong Geun also began to cry a few unscripted tears.
At that moment both actors sensed they had experienced that magical moment when an actor is so lost in his or her role that the actor really becomes the character.
"I don't think I'll ever forget that scene," said Lee Seung Gi.
When he was not in character and destroying everything Choi Kang Chi cared about, Lee Sung Jae, the actor playing Jo Kwan Woong, was actually pretty friendly with Lee Seung Gi on set. The two liked to joke around.
But he recalls being really surprised in one scene where Choi Kang Chi broke his writing table with a broom. Lee Sung Jae was shocked that Lee Seung Gi was strong enough to actually break the table. It stunned everyone on set.
For Suzy, who played Dam Yeol Wol, Choi Kang Chi's ally and love interest, the scene that will always resonate with her is the moment the characters meet by the blossoming peach tree under the crescent moon.
"They didn't know each other, but at that moment they were pulled into a relationship, so I will never forget it," said Suzy. "The shoot itself was dreamlike and seemed to have a sad feeling."
Lee Yu Bi also chose a kissing scene, but her scene with Lee Seung Gi featured cherry and not peach blossoms. It was the scene when her character Park Chung Jo first expresses her love and she remembered that while they were filming the scene, the staff was blowing cherry blossoms in their direction.
For Yoo Yeon Seok, who played Park Tae So, it was the moment that showed how deep Choi Kang Chi's affection was for his adopted brother. Under a spell Park Tae So tried to kill Choi Kang Chi, but he refused to hurt him. Yoo Yeon Seok said he cried so much that day that he will never forget it.
