October 5 marked the premiere of three major K-Dramas and their ratings reflected a split in their audiences. The SBS period drama, "Six Flying Dragons," premiered with a strong lead over its competition. According to Nielsen Korea, the first episode of "Six Flying Dragons" recorded 12.3 in nationwide viewership.
"Six Flying Dragons" stars Yoo Ah In as Lee Bang Won, the third king in the Joseon Dynasty.
Yoo Ah In recently dominated domestic film screens with his portrayal of a corrupt conglomerate heir in "Veteran." "Veteran" continues to attract foreign audiences, with the film grossing more than $1 million USD during its run in America.
In "Six Flying Dragons," he is joined by Shin Se Kyung, whose recent notable dramas include "Sensory Couple" and "Blade Man."
Byun Yo Han also stars in the series. His nuanced performance in the psychological commentary movie, "Socialphobia," was recently recognized through the Best New Actor award at the Busan International Film Festival.
"Six Flying Dragons" will air 50 episodes, in the Monday and Tuesday 9:55 p.m. KST time slot.
The period drama will face off with MBC's contemporary series, "Glamorous Temptation," which premiered with notable ratings. The first episode captured the interest of 8.5 percent of nationwide viewership.
"Glamorous Temptation" focuses on the complicated path of three people whose lives become intertwined. The series also features a stellar cast including Choi Gang Hee (7th Level Civil Servant), Joo Sang Wook (Birth of a Beauty), and Cha Ya Ryun (My Lovely Girl).
"Glamorous Temptation" is a 50 episode series that airs on Mondays and Tuesday in the 10 p.m. KST time slot.
The highly anticipated teen drama, "Sassy, Go Go" yielded disappointing ratings for its first episode. According to the report issued by Nielsen Korea, "Sassy, Go Go" only captured 2.2 percent of nationwide viewers.
"Sassy, Go Go," which was previously known as "Cheer Up!" stars A Pink's Jung Eun Ji as Kang Yeon Doo, a cheerleader who struggles to maintain academic success under the pressure of the Korean high school system.
The series will air 12 episodes on Mondays and Tuesdays, in the 10 p.m. KST time slot.
