Jay Leno is not sure how Jimmy Kimmel got a place on his blacklist. But the former "Tonight Show" host after Johny Carson said that he does not allow the Jimmy Kimmel Jay Leno feud to bother him.
Leno will be the frontman for the upcoming show on CNBC, "Jay Leno's Garage." He came on "Today" to say that he stays up to date with late-night-shows by watching the jokes.
While he left out "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on ABC among the list of talk shows he mentioned, he did confront Kimmel in late night during Leno's tenure at "Tonight." But Leno admits that was not the point of contention between the two comedians.
According to Kimmel, the Jimmy Kimmel Jay Leno feud dates all the way back to 2010. When Conan O'Brien ended his term, Kimmel mentioned pro-Conan jokes during a Leno interview. Coincidentally, Leno returned to the "Tonight" show he left a year before, reported Today.com.
"I always felt weird about how Jay got that 11:30 spot," Kimmel was quoted as saying on "Larry King Live" in 2012. He added, "Of course, that was NBC's decision, but the whole thing seemed premeditated to me," the Today.com report said.
Leno recently made remarks about Kimmel, citing that the young comedian's "problem" was that "he has a mean streak, and it comes across," reported Today. Leno, however, admitted Kimmel was a bright talent and was funny.
Other big name comedians like radio-show host Howard Stern commented on the Jimmy Kimmel Jay Leno feud debacle that Leno is sticking his "enormous chin" where it doesn't belong, according to NY Daily News.
On Today, Leno tried to explain what he meant by the comment about Kimmel.
"[Kimmel] comes from radio ... where you find some enemy and then you make up a phony battle. I never had any problems with the guy, but he chose to go after me. And that's fine, welcome to show business," said Today.com
