Japanese actress Hirosue Ryoko has been released from police custody without indictment after being arrested for allegedly assaulting a nurse at a hospital earlier this month.

The incident occurred around 12:20 a.m. on April 8 at the Shimada City General Medical Center in Shizuoka Prefecture.
Hirosue, 44, was taken to the hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries sustained in a highway collision.
While there, she allegedly kicked and scratched a female nurse who attempted to prevent her from wandering through the facility.
The nurse reportedly suffered abrasions as a result of the encounter.
Hirosue was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault.
Authorities noted that the actress exhibited signs of emotional instability at the time of the incident.
Hirosue voluntarily underwent a drug and alcohol test following her arrest.
Results confirmed she tested negative for both illegal substances and alcohol, police said, as per Japan Today.
Often referred to by fans as the "Nation's Daughter," Hirosue has been a prominent figure in Japanese entertainment since the 1990s.
Her filmography includes notable appearances in Wasabi (2001) and the Academy Award-winning Departures (2008).
According to reports, Hirosue has since reached a private settlement with the nurse involved.

Her representatives have issued a formal apology to the affected parties.
Prosecutors released Hirosue without filing charges as the investigation remains ongoing.
