"On-again-off-again" Justin Bieber ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez has been battling lupus for two years and the singer has opened up about her health issues.
The "Good For You" singer confirmed recently that she was diagnosed with lupus and was on chemotherapy in 2013. The pop star that neither rejected nor accepted the health claims for about two years has clearified her condition revealing her struggle with the autoimmune disease, according to Huffington Post.

"I was diagnosed with lupus, and I've been through chemotherapy," Gomez told Billboard magazine. "That's what my break was really about. I could've had a stroke," the teen idol shared. She clarified that she was under chemotherapy for few months between the end of 2013 and early 2014 on account of which she cancelled her dance tour to Asia and Australia.
During the few months of her break, rumors spread about the pop star battling issues of addiction. She was also reported to be in rehab undergoing treatment for psychological problems. Meanwhile Gomez's rep also confirmed that she is under treatment at Dawn at The Meadows recovery facility in Wickenburg, Ariz., for "emotional issues" and "partying." However he noted that she isn't seeking medical care for substance abuse.
"I wanted so badly to say, 'You guys have no idea," Gomez told BBC News. "I'm in chemotherapy. [But] I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again," said the singer in an effort to dismiss the addiction claims that mislabelled her, said the report on BBC.

"This was the first year I ever dealt with anyone talking about my body," Gomez told the magazine. "I'd land at the airport and people would yell out, 'You're fat!' It was awful. I've been working in therapy. Even if I did gain weight, I'm fine," noted Gomez while revealing her inspiration to pose naked for the cover of her new album "Revival."
