WhatsApp Google Drive backup brings good news to the popular messaging app user. It will now carry more memory storage on Android phones. They don't have to worry about memory storage capacity of their smartphones since WhatsApp announced a back-up feature for the Android platform. Now users will be able to store chats and multimedia content on Google Drive, said Economic Times.
WhatsApp Google Drive backup strategy will enable users to create a private backup of their chat history, voice messages, photos and videos in Google Drive. All chats will be easily retrievable on a new device with couple of taps, revealed Google Drive Director of Product Management Scott Johnston in his blog. He further stated that the new backup feature will be soon available in next few months and users will have to keep an eye on WhatsApp settings for the new feature, said Catch News.
This feature is exclusively available for Android phone users only and Apple fans still remain disappointed, said Stuff.tv. All users who either lose their phones or switch to other phones can easily reclaim their chats that are safe on the Google Drive. This new feature offers a seamless way to back up your data in the cloud with encryption for added security. On a new device, the restore option will show up automatically when a user starts using his WhatsApp account, said Times of India.
The feature will come in a new update for existing Android users who can go to setting options in the application after updating WhatsApp from the Play Store. Users will have to select 'Chats and Calls' option and opt for frequency -- daily, weekly, monthly or never -- for saving their data, said Catch News.
Currently WhatApps has more than 900 million active users across the globe. However, a confirmed release date for the WhatsApp Google Drive backup update is yet not available.
