Actor Park Shi Hoo has written a letter thanking his fans for believing in him during the last six difficult months.
His problems began in February, when a trainee actress known only as "A" charged him with assault for relations he claimed were consensual. She dropped her charges in May but the last of the related lawsuits was only resolved in July. The actor has maintained his innocence and he is so grateful that so many fans remained loyal.
The actor tried to sum up how he felt in a letter posted on his fan café and titled "2AM in America."
"My pen feels heavy as I try to express my complicated feelings in a letter," wrote the actor, who starred in the dramas "Prosecutor Princess," "The Princess' Man," and "Cheomdamdung Alice."
He apologized to his fans for making them worry and said that during the last few months it was difficult for him to appear anywhere in public. It was even hard to face family and friends.
"It seemed like everyone was saying bad things about me, which scared me," he wrote.
He said he felt guilty and sorry for hurting his fans.
"However, I am gaining courage by seeing how devotedly you stuck with me even after this incident. Because of this incident, I have lost much but on the other hand I was able to gain even more and it helped me realize many things. I realized that you all believe in me and love me. It was hard but because of your unchanging hearts, I was able to endure it and you helped me to gain courage."
In the letter he called his fans his family.
"You are like that to me," he wrote. "Right after this case was over, the ones I wanted to run to and meet first, the ones I wanted to see were all of you but because I couldn't I am writing to you like this. I want to express the words that I yelled out thousands and tens of thousands of times in my heart: thank you. With all of my heart, I thank you."
Thanks to his family of fans, the actor says that he finds it possible to dream again about returning to acting. But he would give no date for his next project.
"I can't tell you when that will be but I will definitely be a stronger, more mature actor," he wrote.
