The prominent conversation and messaging hub WhatsApp with over 900 million regular users world-wide will be easier to use for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6 Plus users. On October 14th 2015, WhatsApp received a new face-lift with 2.12.9 highlighting 3D touch for top mobile versions like iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
Sources have named this feature as 'Peek and Pop,' where users can evaluate the contents like locations, videos, pictures etc. Using the pop function, users can zoom-in to see the extended features and peek allows zooming out to get the top view, said International Business Times.
Home screen shortcuts for 3D touch are yet not available in the current release. Moreover, the 3D Touch function is disabled for previewing contents of conversation in the message list as well for using Quick Reply features while responding to the message, said iDownloadBlog.
The new features comes as a welcome excitement to iPhone 6S and 6S plus users with iOS 9. Earlier version of WhatsApp added the ability to star messages so that users could easily tap on it to star mark it and find it easily later on in the conversation, said GSM Arena. Starred messages appear in a separate section in the search results enabling users to quicker access, said Digit.in.
Facebook also upgraded its version for iOS' latest 3D Touch version. The new version supports some of the basic 3D touch functionalities that runs on iOS 7 or later. Users can now directly take or upload photos and videos, and write a post by pressing on the app icon. However, the much touted "Live photo' feature is yet to be introduced. Facebook stated that the feature will be available by the end of this year, said Digit.in
Instagam was one of the first social media platforms that made use of iPhone 6S and 6S Plus 3D touch feature which enabled users to zoom in or out of picture without opening it fully.
