Lamar Odom seems to be making continued progress after waking up from coma, according to the latest news update, as ex-wife Khloe Kardashian opened up for the first time since the tragic event.

The basketball player's aunt, JaNean Mercer, released a statement to different media outlets thanking everybody for their support.

"As Lamar begins a new chapter in his road to recovery, PLEASE continue to uplift him and the family in prayer," the statement said. "He continues to make miraculous progress, taking a few steps in Los Angeles. We couldn't be more overjoyed! We realize Lamar's continued improvement will not be easy, however his unrelenting strength and faith in GOD will pull him through."

According to the Lamar Odom news update from CNN, Khloe Kardashian's ex was airlifted through a chopper from Las Vegas into a hospital in Los Angeles where his recovery continues.

Meanwhile, Khloe Kardashian issued a statement in light of Lamar Odom's miraculous recovery.

"You can never be prepared for an experience like this," she said. But without the outpouring of love and endless prayers that Lamar has received and the strength I was given from my loved ones, it would have been difficult to endure. Thank you for your continued support. God is great!!

E! News also dished some news update on the Lamar Odom saga as the former Los Angeles Lakers star was reportedly taken into the LA hospital on a gurney Monday night.

"He appeared to be sedated, and Khloé was right behind him with two bodyguards," the article said.

"Lamar is now speaking in full sentences and can swallow and eat food on his own. However, the former Lakers star has a long road to recovery ahead and is currently being treated for aspiration pneumonia."

Lamar Odom lapsed into a coma after he was found unconscious in a Las Vegas brothel room that he paid for $75,000. Various report claimed that he overdose on drugs.
