According to the latest "Winds of Winter" update, the release date is imminent as the Polish translation of George R. R. manuscript is set to be finished by the end of the year.
The Polish website Piesn Lodu I Ognia reported of a discussion with translator Michael Jakuszewski who shared details about the "Winds of Winter" release date.
In that discussion, he confirmed that he was asked by the publishing house that he should be able to finish the translation by the end of the year.
When pressed for details, however, Michael Jakuszewski said that he's not getting new chapters apart from those that George R. R. Martin already published.
"Jakuszewski also drew attention to the fact that the translation gets pre-edited file that in the course of further editorial work (which is) subject to change," the website said.
Although the "Winds of Winter" might not be finished, said Latin Post, it's almost done.
"If the translator is tasked to be ready to perform his work on it before 2016, it means that the editors of the English manuscript must have also proofread it thoroughly by then to give a green light for its translation. Thus, there's really a great probability that Martin is almost through with it," it added.
This seemed to coincide with George R. R. Martin's goal of announcing the "Winds of Winter" release date before the "Game of Thrones" season 6 in April next year.
Then there's the revelation of Alejo Cuervo, the editor of Ediciones Gigamesh (the Spanish publisher of George R. R. Martin), who told Lossie Tereinos, per IBTimes, that the release date for "Winds of Winter" would be early 2016.
"The difference between the release dates of the Spanish version and the English version are not expected to be much, as the manuscript will be made available to the Spanish publishers well before the book is out in the market," the article said.
According to Entertainment Weekly, George R. R. Martin is rolling up his sleeves to finish the "Winds of Winter" and rush the release date as soon as possible.
"The bestselling author once again will not contribute a script to HBO's Game of Thrones as the production preps for next season," it said. "The Thrones author previously penned an episode for seasons 1-4, then opted out of writing for the current fifth season."
