Kdrama fans that live in the Los Angeles area should be on the lookout for signs of Lee Min Ho. The actor and his "The Heirs" co-stars Park Shin Hye and f (x)'s Krystal are on their way to the U.S. West Coast to film some of the drama's scenes.
The SBS drama, "The Heirs," will film in California for about three weeks, shooting scenes in Los Angeles and in Malibu to illustrate the luxurious lifestyle of the drama's rich young characters. Lee Min Ho has been practicing surfing for this role, so a good place to spot him might be riding the waves on Malibu's beaches.
Most of the main characters in the "Gossip Girl" style drama are the high-school-age heirs of wealthy and powerful families. Lee Min Ho, whose last drama was "Faith: The Great Doctor," plays Kim Tan, a student at an exclusive upscale high school, while Park Shin Hye, who was last seen in "Flower Boys Next Door," plays Eun Sang, the daughter of a deaf housekeeper. And yet they meet and wind up at the same high school. Cinderella story, anyone?
"The Heirs" is one of the year's most anticipated dramas for two reasons. Writer Kim Eun Sook is the writer responsible for the hit dramas, "Secret Garden," "Lovers in Paris" and "A Gentleman's Dignity." And the show has acquired such an appealing cast of up and coming actors.
Choi Jin Hyuk, who was recently seen as the mountain spirit Wol Ryung in the hit drama "Gu Family Book" will play Lee Min Ho's older brother. The drama's cast also includes Choi Won Young, Kim Woo Bin, ZE:A's Park Hyung Sik, Kang Ha Neul and CNBlue's Kang Min Hyuk.
Choi Won Young last appeared in "Dating Agency: Cyrano," Kim Woo Bin became popular after "School 2013," and Park Hyung Sik did a great job acting in "Nine: Nine Time Travels." Kang Na Heul appeared in "Two Weeks," "Monstar," and "To The Beautiful You." Kang Min Hyuk last appeared as a playboy in "My Husband Got A Family."
The drama began casting early in the year and has snagged so many desirable actors that some drama officials complained there was no one left to cast in other dramas. It was also said that some of the actors now in the cast asked writer Kim Eun Sook if they could appear in "The Heirs" because the supporting roles in her dramas are so well developed.
"The Heirs" will air in October.
