The characters played by Han Ye Seul and Sung Joon in the upcoming JTBC drama "Madam Antoine" have something in common. They are both good at analyzing what troubles people and what they need to hear.
Only one of them is a respected psychologist and the other is a fortune teller.
Sung's character Choi Soo Hyun is a respected psychologist with a loyal following among Hollywood's stars. Choi Soo Hyun is skilled at discovering how a person's traumatic past influences the way they act in the present. Although he's not so good at knowing how his traumatic past has influenced his inability to love.
Han Ye Seul plays Ko Hye Rim, a fortuneteller who is famous for her ability to read a person's stars. As a fortuneteller she uses the name Madam Antoine. Although Ko Hye Rim claims to be spiritually connected to the tragic French queen Marie Antoinette, she's really a fake. She can't really predict the future or chart anyone's destiny. She is good at reading people's personalities and knowing what it is they long for. Because she understands people so well, she knows just what to say to comfort them.
Han Ye Seul thought she was a fascinating character.
In an interview with the Korean media outlet Sports Hankooki, Han Ye Seul spoke about her decision to take the role.
"I was mesmerized by the drama's unique subject," said Han, who was last seen in the drama "Birth of a Beauty." "I am excited to meeting the public with it."
Madam Antoine winds up taking part in a psychological test given by Choi Soo Hyun. He has designed the test to prove that love does not exist. Choi personally does not believe that love exists due to his own traumatic first love experience.
Since "Madam Antoine" is a romantic comedy, the test will likely lead to true love for both these characters.
Kim Yoo Cheol, who directed "My Name Is Kim Sam Soon" and "Can We Marry?"will direct "Madam Antoine." He worked with Sung Joon in "Can We Marry."
Sung Joon, who appeared in "Discovery of Romance," "I Need Romance 3," "Gu Family Book" and "Shut Up Flower Boy Band" is happy to reunite with Kim.
"I am looking forward to the drama and working with director Kim Yoon Cheol again," said Sung Joon.
Hong Jin Ah, who wrote "Future's Choice" and "King 2 Hearts" has written the screenplay for the drama.
2AM's Jung Jin Woon, last seen in "Marriage, Not Dating," will also appear in the drama.
The weekend drama "Madam Antoine" follows "D-Day" in November.
