Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova made a stunning comeback after her injury. She had not played a single complete match since last July. However, she ended her three-month injury nightmare with a grueling victory against Agnieszka Radwanska on the opening day of the WTA Finals in Singapore.
Sharapova has suffered leg and forearm injuries and had been struggling since Wimbledon. She had also withdrawn from US Open after her leg injury. Her three-set win over Agnieszka Radwanska at the WTA Finals was her first completed match since Wimbledon, where she lost to Williams in the semifinals, said Tennis. Sharapova beat Agnieszka Radwanska 4-6 6-3 6-4 in a full-blooded encounter marked by several swings in momentum as both players struggled on serve
Russian star player Maria Sharapova showcased her battling skills remained intact even though her game was not the sharpest one. She hit back from a set down to win in just short of three hours, after recovering from 15-40 when serving for the match.
At the end of the match, emotionally drained tennis star stated that it was only one match down and she still had a few to go. However, it was great to have won a match against such a tough competitor as Radwanska as they have always had difficult matches. She also stated that to be able to come out on the court and fight until the end to win a match meant a lot to her, said BBC.
She also stated that for coming into WTA Finals in Singapore, she tried to do everything so that she could be healthy. Although she didn't play her best tennis but sometimes that's not what mattered the most said EU Sports.
