The sequel to "Terminator Genisys" will definitely push through on the strength of its worldwide box-office showing. However, the possibility of Emilia Clarke reprising her role as Sarah Connor is still very much up in the air.

According to Dana Goldberg, Skydance chief creative officer, the prospect of a "Terminator Genisys" sequel has been decided with the warm reception worldwide even with the anemic showing of the Arnold Schwarzenegger- and Emilia Clarke-starrer in the domestic market.

"I wouldn't say on hold, so much as re-adjusting," she told TheWrap duringthe 6th Annual Media Leadership Conference.

She also said that because of this development, they won't go into production until the start of next year.

"We're ultimately happy with overall worldwide numbers. Do I wish we would have done better domestically? Absolutely," Dana Goldberg added. "Happily, we live in the world where the domestic number had a level of importance 10 or 15 years ago - I'm not saying it's not important, it is - but we have to play to a worldwide market."

The producer didn't say anything about Emilia Clarke returning to reprise her role as Sarah Connor in the "Terminator Genisys" sequel, however.

There were speculations that the "Game of Thrones" actress would be dropped in the sequel because the producers allegedly blamed her for the weak box-office showing of the movie in the domestic market.

Dish Nation alleged that the English actress "failed to impress" the executives with her turn in "Terminator Genysis."

The source claimed, "Sadly her acting ability has been called into question and has in part been blamed for the film's flop."

"Of course it's not all her fault," the insider added. "But they basically don't want her back. They're saying she doesn't have the star power they thought she did."

The "Terminator Genisys" sequel was originally slated for a May 2017 release although that could be pushed back because of the readjustment.
