The cast and producers of "The Vampire Diaries" have been quelling rumors of tension on the set between ex-lovers Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder, which allegedly led to her exit from the CW series.
Actor Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan Salvatore, earlier told TVInsider that Nina Dobrev is part of the family.
"Elena's still a very big part of the story," he said. "Her body's in danger in the first few episodes, and Damon is doing everything he can to make sure it stays safe if and when she wakes up. We all had imagined this complete reboot where Elena was gone, but she's talked about so much!"
Even Ian Somerhalder said that the decision not to kill off Nina Dobrev's character was deliberate because it opens opportunities for her to come back to "The Vampire Diaries."
But the actress seems to be keen on moving on.
And the fact that Nina Dobrev has scored several movies and TV shows only diminished the chance of Ian Somerhalder's ex's return to "The Vampire Diaries."
Nina Dobrev will be seen in the campy comedy, "The Final Girls," which is a parody on horror movies.
She will also headline "Arrivals" with Maisie Williams, which is due in 2016. The synopsis reads, "An American hypochondriac who is working as a baggage handler at the Cape Town airport is forced to confront his fears when a British teenager with a terminal illness enlists him to help her carry out her eccentric bucket list."
There were also reports that Nina Dobrev was also shortlisted for "The Notebook" TV series, which will be produced by Nicholas Sparks.
Nina Dobrev has multiple times shot down the rumors of her return to "The Vampire Diaries."
"Nina has also stated pretty clearly on multiple occasions she won't be returning to 'The Vampire Diaries' despite some fans holding onto hope, CDL said. "Recently, she told EW that chapter is 'closed' and her speech the 2015 Teen Choice Awards essentially put the final nail in that coffin."
