The Carmelo Anthony trade rumors reared their ugly heads once again as the NBA superstar is reportedly perfect for the rising New Orleans Pelicans team, led by MVP frontrunner Anthony Davis.
According to All About Rookies https://allaboutrookies.sportsblog.com/posts/6365066/nba-trade-rumor-carmelo-anthony-leaving-the-knicks-.html, the New York Knicks are not in a very good place right now as they are predicted to win about 20 wins.
Despite his expensive contract, Carmelo Anthony remains one of the league's most explosive scorers and many teams would want him for the right price.
The New Orleans Pelicans would be a good fit," the blog said. "With him on the team they could become instant contenders and Carmelo would have a chance to win multiple rings, getting to play with the current star and future (most likely) MVP Anthony Davis"
But there's a hitch since the Pelicans don't have the roster to make a straight swap. That means another team should be involved and that typically creates a lot of complications with all the contracts being considered.
There's also another problem: part of Carmelo Anthony's $124 million contract with the New York Knicks was a "no-trade clause."
If Carmelo Anthony has any say, however, he wants his name off the NBA trade rumors.
When asked if he would demand a trade if the New York Knicks continue to suck, he told ESPN https://espn.go.com/blog/newyork-knicks/post/_/id/63107/is-carmelo-thinking-about-a-trade-hell-no, "No, hell no."
"I haven't even -- for me to get to that point and decide this is not what it's going to be, I already came this far. That don't even come across my mind at this point," he said.
"I was in everybody's trade this offseason, so after a while, at first it's like OK, I know it's not true, it's stupid," the 6-8 forward contineud. "Then after a while it gets old, you start hearing the same thing from a different source every day, a different team every day. You've got to walk around and you've got to hear the people, fans are asking, you've got to deal with that everywhere you go, family, downtown. So things like that starts to get overwhelming at times."
