Joe Johnson was once the subject of NBA trade rumors in June this year, when talks about the New Jersey Nets and the Memphis Grizzlies looking for a deal.
Writer Marc Stein wrote, "The teams could not find a workable deal and have tabled discussions, but sources told ESPN.com that the Nets were encouraged enough in general to believe that they will ultimately find a trade taker for Johnson's mammoth contract, which only has one season left to run but at a massive $24.9 million in 2015-16 -- the league's richest deal when it was signed four years ago."
But nothing had come out of those NBA trade rumors, until now when it was speculated that the Nets are still looking to dump Joe Johnson's contract.
According to All About Rookies, a trade between the New Jersey Nets and the Chicago Bulls makes a lot of sense.
It said that Joe Johnson, even if he's inefficient this year, still holds a lot of value as a scorer.
"That is where the Chicago Bulls come in, they are a bit weak in the guard/small-forward position, especially of the bench," it said. "Conversely, in the big-man spots they have an abundance of talent. SO what could potentially happen is this: The Bulls, who are potential championship contenders this season, need a player with experience, offensive-talent, and leadership to come off the bench and back up the small forward and shooting guard starters."
In other NBA trade rumors, the Miami Heat is reportedly thinking about shipping out Chris Andersen next after successfully negotiating a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies for Mario Chalmers.
"Heat had Chalmers & Andersen out there all offseason. Felt there might be more takers once season started. One down. We'll see on 2nd," Ethan Skolnick tweeted five days ago.
But Miami Herald said that trading Chris Andersen might not be as easy.
"Though the Heat would gladly move Chris Andersen's $5 million salary to further reduce its tax burden, Miami isn't optimistic about finding a taker," the article said.
