Carrie Underwood talked about Blake Shelton in a recent interview. According to a report from E! Online, the "Smoke Break" singer is standing by fellow country songstress Miranda Lambert amid her controversial divorce.
During last month's Country Music Awards, hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood joked about Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert's recent split. The former "American Idol" champion explained why they decided to openly poke fun at the former couple.
"Blake is such a good sport," Carrie Underwood explained. "For us, it was everyone is going to expect us to address this, how can we do it without really going there?"
The Nashville star and Brad Paisley made light of the split by using Muppet characters in their skit.
"We thought the whole Miss Piggy and Kermit thing was the perfect way to make a not cute situation cute," Carrie Underwood said.
"We wanted people to giggle and not leave anyone feeling bad. We were checking with parties along the way to make sure everybody knew what was happening."
"We made sure everyone was [okay with everything]," she added.
When Carrie Underwood was asked if she thought Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani make a good couple, the Grammy winner chose to not criticize the two coaches from "The Voice."
"I have not seen them together yet," she clarified.
"You just hope everybody's happy or will be happy."
Earlier this year, OK magazine reported how Carrie Underwood tried to advise Miranda Lambert at the height of her and Blake Shelton's marital problems.
Happily married to Nashville Predators hockey star Mike Fisher, Carrie Underwood allegedly told the "Over You" singer to take a break from work in order to focus on her marriage.
"Carrie's been telling Miranda that she should put her own career on pause to keep the home fires burning," a source revealed to Star magazine.
"Miranda just rolls her eyes and smiles politely."
"Miranda knows Carrie's advice comes from a good place, but her life and marriage aren't remotely similar to Carrie's," the source explained.
