George R. R. Martin's cameo for "Z Nation" as a rotting zombie just disturbed a hornet's nest with fans eager for any news regarding the "Winds of Winter" release date.

In that particular episode over at SyFy channel, George R. R. Martin is seen signing books with the cover title, "A Promise of Spring," which clearly is an allusion to the seventh and final installment of "A Song of Fire and Ice" novels called, "A Dream of Spring.

"In the episode, Murphy (Keith Allan) gets captured by a possibly insane zombie collector aptly named 'The Collector' (Tom Beyer), who takes him on a tour of the exhibitions at his creepy zombie museum," said Entertainment Weekly.

"There, he introduces Murphy to Martin, who now spends his days inside the 'celebrity zombie room.' (He succumbed to the virus shortly after a hectic escape from Comic-Con, the Collector explains). Murphy, unfortunately, isn't all that impressed with meeting Martin, because he's never read or watched the series," it added.

The author also touched on the cameo in his blog.

Now, fans couldn't help but point out that George R. R. Martin is clearly stirring up trouble, particularly with the anticipation for the "Winds of Winter" release date.

One fan cautioned the author about the repercussions of the episode as he wrote, "Now there's more "evidence" for the crazy fan theory that you're already done writing the series."

"A Promise of Spring??Now that's one sure way of messing with our fan base..Nicely done Sir,nicely done indeed," one fan wrote.

Another said, "George, is this a draft or confirmed cover for the final ASOIAF book, or are you just messing with us anxious fans???"

George R. R. Martin has been quoted as saying that he intends to announce the "Winds of Winter" release date before the "Game of Thrones" airs on HBO, which is going to be in April or May next year.
