American research firm Gartner Inc. predicts that Microsoft Corporation's Windows 10 is set to become the most installed version ever, like Windows XP and 7. The firm said half of the enterprises will already be deploying new platform 10 by January 2017, reported Microsoft News.
Microsoft Corporation's Windows 10 was launched on July 29 with a great start and now runs on more than a hundred million devices as per Microsoft's data.
It will happen because of several factors, such as ending the support of Windows 7 on January 2020, compatibility with Windows 7 devices and apps, as well as the increasing demand for two-in-1 and tablet device rollouts. Many businesses plan to pilot Windows 10 on the first half next year and widen the deployment for the rest of the year.
By the start of 2017, Gartner estimates that at least 50 percent of the enterprises already have started production deployments with plans to complete migration by 2019.
According to Gartner Research VP Steve Kleynhans, the implementation of the new OS will be more rapid than Windows 7 six years ago.
Kleynhans stated, "In the consumer market, a free upgrade coupled with broad legacy device support and automatic over-the-air upgrades ensures that there will be tens of millions of users familiar with the OS before the end of 2015."
On its website's newsroom, the research firm made three endpoint technology predictions as well - touch screens will be delivered in 33 percent of all notebooks by 2018, more enterprises will invest on display screens than on PCs and by 2019, there will be more remote apps.
Prices on touchscreens are decreasing and they will become default features for computer notebooks in 2018. The same year will see the demand for more high-resolution screens.
Gartner's prediction is not surprising as Microsoft Corporation's Windows 10 is from the start, set to run across various devices and platforms. It is designed to power a billion devices by July 2018. That includes PCs, tablets, phones, Xbox One and even HoloLens.
