Hayden Christensen played a young Anakin Skywalker in the first three prequels of "Star Wars," and eventually siding with the force as Darth Vader.
A new rumor, however, claimed that Hayden Christensen will be back for "Star Wars 8" and fans are not certain how that would work.
One wrote, "The only way I can see this working and not be bad is if its ghost Anakin, that would actually make sense."
"No no NO!!! You can't bring him back, his body was burned and his soul is at rest, let Darth Vader rest in peace!!!" another said.
"No problem here as long as it is a) a small cameo, and b) serves only to further the Luke/Rey/Finn/Kylo storyline. Let's be done w/ Ani," Joseph Holmes added.
Another fan has a theory, "Maybe someone in a Vadar costume for Rogue One, at most a force ghost in 8, no resurrection though."
However, most fans are not keen about Hayden Christensen's return to "Star Wars 8" as Anakin Skywalker was universally regarded as one of the worst characters in the universe, maybe perhaps next only to Jar Jar Binks.
"Just not Hayden Christiansen please," one fan begged.
"It wouldn't bother me if he was in it but I don't want creepy anakin again," another fan noted.
Making Star Wars first reported the rumor that Hayden Christensen may appear in "Star Wars 8" or "Star Wars: Rogue One."
"A team in the U.K. (is) soon heading to the U.S. to begin training Hayden Christensen for a Star Wars: Episode VIII appearance of some sort," it said. "We should see if these rumors have legs sooner than later with both films filming right now in various degrees."
For now, however, Disney has not issued a statement confirming or denying the rumor of Hayden Christensen's return to "Star Wars 8."
