Samsung Group And KDDI - Towards The Next Generation 5G Tech; Also Participated In NTT DoCoMo's 5G Trials

Samsung Group announced it signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate with Japanese firm KDDI for the next generation 5G tech.

The agreement continues their decade-long collaboration. Both companies have been collaborating for more than a decade and the recent MoU strengthens that partnership, according to Samsung Newsroom.

Both have introduced to the Japanese market, the most advanced LTE and Code Division Multiple Access technologies.

Executive VP and Research and Development Team Head DongSoo Park of Samsung's Networks Business stated, "We have worked together to drive innovation in 3G and 4G, and this track record of achievement makes us confident and excited about what we can provide in 5G era to end-users."

On KDDI' side, it likewise expressed its commitment to provide "high-quality network performance and superior user experience" to their customer, according to KDDI Board Member and Technology Sector Managing Executive Officer Yoshiaki Uchida.

"By continuing to work closely with Samsung, we will study the innovations in 5G that are needed to keep up with consumer demand for our mobile network." Uchida added.

Working together, Samsung Group and KDDI will help speed up the development of 5G as they leverage their mobile network expertise. The partnership focuses on researching and validating technologies found most critical to the 5G's future. They will center on the developments which will have the most impact first so that both KDDI and Samsung will be set for 5G and the next-gen telecommunications.

Samsung Group leads the way for standardization of 5G. It proposed few months ago a vision of 5G mobile communications systems to the 5G workshop of 3GPP, a technical standards decision-making private organization composed of big mobile and equipment companies worldwide.

Samsung Group also works with G U+ under a similar MoU, reported SamMobile.

Meanwhile, Fierce Wireless Tech reported that Samsung Group was also involved in the recent 5G trials conducted by Japanese firm NTT DoCoMo in actual-use environments with other big vendors like Nokia Networks, Huawei, Fujitsu and Ericsson.

The Japanese operator wants to use a 5G system for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo so it touted several trials for the past few months.
