Ellie Goulding and boyfriend Dougie Poynter are reportedly taking a break on their relationship, but the "On My Mind" hitmaker was reunited with ex Niall Horan for a Christmas performance.
"They are taking a break. Their work commitments have meant they have been spending more and more time away from each other and it has made it difficult to maintain their relationship," a source confirmed to UK's Mirror.
"They are both very sad that things have hit a rough patch, but are trying to see if a little distance can help them get through it."
Ellie Goulding and boyfriend Dougie Poynter became an item about two years ago after meeting at the Cosmopolitan awards.
"Globe trotting can really take its toll on any relationship, but it's especially hard when work regularly demands that both sides have to be away," the Mirror source added.

It doesn't seem likely, but the two were reunited for a performance at the 06.1 KISS FIM's Jingle Ball in Dallas last Tuesday.
"The ex-couple cosied up for a snap together backstage at the American Airlines Center ahead of their respective on-stage stints," reported Daily Mail. "And if Ellie, 28, was feeling at all saddened by her split from McBusted star Dougie, she didn't show it as she showed off a beaming smile, one large enough to match One Direction star Niall's."
The split rumors came when Ellie Goulding said back in September that she's ready to walk down the aisle as she called Dougie Poynter as "the one."
"I once had a pretty warped view of marriage because so many people around me had divorced parents. So for a long time I did think that I'd never get married and that men were rubbish - all that stuff," she told Glamour magazine.
"But when someone comes along and re-establishes that trust, [whispering now in case Dougie overhears] then it's nice to think of doing everything the traditional way: having a church wedding, with all my family in one place - I love the idea of that."
To date, Ellie Goulding and boyfriend Dougie Poynter have yet to respond to the split rumors.
