Adam Lambert has revealed his initial misgivings about fronting for Queen because the "American idol" alum thought it might impact on his solo career.

Speaking to Metro magazine recently, as shared by Unreality TV, he said that his concerns clearly had no basis.

"I was concerned it might [complicate my solo career] at first but it's been fine," he said. "It's cool I get both things on my plate. They're such different projects."

The "American Idol" alum continued, "The Queen stuff is big and grand and some of it is quite camp, which is part of my personality, and the solo project is more my serious side. It's nice to have both."

Adam Lambert also found some new gratification in giving his own take to Freddie Mercury's iconic songs during Queen's concerts.

"It's incredibly gratifying to sing songs to big audience that have been such a big part of people's lives for so long," he said.

And the feeling is mutual for Queen's original members

Last month, Brian May said that they couldn't have anticipated the audience feedback on Adam Lambert's performance when they announced that he's going to be the vocalist for Queen.

In an interview for Bang Showbiz, as shared by TV3, Queen guitarist Brian May said that Adam Lambert would get a stamp of approval from Freddie Mercury himself.

"Adam is a phenomenon, you just have to watch him. We didn't look for him, we never looked for anyone to replace Freddie ever, the thing with Paul Rodgers happened very naturally," he said, referring to the former Queen frontman who joined the band in 2004 for a tour.

"Adam just came out of the blue, I call him the 'GFG' because he's like a gift from God! It was like, 'Where the f**k did he come from?' He's just incredible and he's not a copy of Freddie, he's very much his own man and brings his style to it," he said.
