Soo Ae and Yeon Jung Hoon, stars of the SBS melodrama, "Mask," were recognized as the Best Actress and Actor at the Grimae Awards.

"Mask" was honored with a total of three awards, including Best Picture during the ceremony, which was held at the KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul on December 10.

Oh Jin Seok, the producer-director of the rating sensation "Yong Pal" was recognized for as the Director of the Year for his work on the hit series, while the popular romantic comedy, "She Was Pretty" won the Best Lighting Direction and Best Picture-Drama categories.

K-pop soloist BoA was the recipient of the Rookie Award. The 29-year-old star, who debuted with SM Entertainment in 2000, continues to make inroads as a budding leading actress.

BoA tearfully accepted the award, which recognized her work in film.

While she previously appeared in dramas and cameos as a guest star, she tackled her first major film role in the Hollywood production, "Make Your Move." She followed the 3D dance movie with the 2014 action comedy, "Big Match." Her performance, opposite veteran actors Lee Jung Jae (Assassination) and Lee Sung Min (The Attorney), garnered praise from both audiences and critics.

Past honorees of Grimae Awards include Lee Jong Suk, who made headlines as the youngest recipient of the Best Actor title for his performance in "Pinocchio."

Recipients in the acting categories of the Grimae Awards are selected by votes, with determining factors including their performance and image, over the course of the year. Documentarians who use innovative and experimental techniques in their production are also recognized during the ceremony.

The Grimae Awards were founded by the Korea Broadcasting Cinematographers Association (KTPA) in 1993.
