Rita Wilson is glad to reveal that she has now officially free from breast cancer after announcing earlier this year that she was diagnosed with the disease.
In an interview last Wednesday during The Hollywood Reporter's "Women in Entertainment Breakfast" presented by Lifetime, the actress, producer and singer, happily broke the news that she is officially free of cancer, according to a report by People Magazine.
"I am cancer free," the 59-year-old Rita Wilson was quoted as saying at the event by the magazine. "I'm one hundred percent healthy!"
The singer also opened up to the magazine about her excitement on hitting the road across the country for her first ever tour with her band.
"I'll start in New York at the Cafe Carlyle for two weeks on Feb. 23," Wilson said. "Part of the reason for going on tour is that I want to show people that you can have cancer, and you can still be out there doing what you love to do."
Rita Wilson, who has been married to actor Tom Hanks for nearly three decades now, also revealed in the interview that her husband will hang around with her during the tour. The statement only proves that they are clearly one of Hollywood's happiest couples.
"He's already said, 'I am coming on the tour bus!' So I had to get one with a bigger bed," Wilson cheerfully told the magazine. "So that was important. He's coming. He's going to be on tour... He's a roadie."
Back in April, Rita Wilson revealed that she has breast cancer and that she has endured double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery after being diagnosed with it.
In an interview, she expressed her gratitude for the people who have been there with her during the ordeal.
"Last week, with my husband by my side, and with the love and support of family and friends, I underwent a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction for breast cancer after a diagnosis of invasive lobular carcinoma," Rita Wilson said, according to a report by The L.A. Times.
"I am recovering and most importantly, expected to make a full recovery."
