"Samurai Jack," animated action adventure series is set to mark its return on television after almost a gap of 11 years, according to Latin Post.

Adult Swim, American cable network recently released a teaser trailer for the Samurai Jack animated series. The network company also revealed that the new season of Samurai Jack is in the making at Cartoon Network Studios in Los Angeles.

Perez Hilton reported that the upcoming season is being created, written and directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, Russian director and animator, who was also the creator for the original series. Genndy has also done animation for flicks like "The Powerpuff Girls and Hotel Transylvania."

Genndy has also animated television shows like Batman: The Animated series, Dexter's Laboratory and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Earlier in September, Tartakovsky also shared his views about the Samurai Jack series and hinted for a new season. "I feel like it's time to maybe finish the story," said Genndy, reported Comic Book. "We've been trying to get the feature off the ground, but maybe that's just fate's way of saying this is a television thing and maybe it should be a mini-series or something like that."

Entertainment Weekly reported that the last episode of the animated series ended with a battle between Jack and Villain, Aku. At the end of the series, it was also shown that an old copy writer sets on a mission to find more about Jack's legacy. The rumors suggest that the new episodes may be more dark, violent and mature in terms of storyline.

The new series will also be aired under late night Toonami section, where a special set of programs devoted to Japanese action television shows and anime are broadcasted on the Adult Swim Network.

Samurai Jack initially aired four seasons from 2001-2004. The new installment of the animated action series is set to release on Adult Swim in 2016.
