Looks like fans will not be seeing a lot of Ed Sheeran on social media in the coming weeks as the singer-songwriter took to his social media accounts to announce his plan for an online hiatus until next autumn.

Ed Sheeran's plan to entirely quit social media for a while was released in the wee hours of Sunday morning in his official social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, according to a report by The Guardian.

Breaking the news to his 16 million Twitter followers and 5.5 million subscribers on Instagram, Ed Sheeran's announcement read, "Hi All. I'm taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while."

The "Thinking Out Loud" singer's firm resolution to do away with his "phone, emails and social media" comes as his lengthy "X" world tour wrapped up Saturday night in Auckland, New Zealand.

"I've had such an amazing ride over the last 5 years," he wrote, "but I find myself being the world through a screen and not my eyes."

Ed Sheeran continued, "So I'm taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed."

The singer's post then continued with him apologizing to his friends and family for "buggering off for a bit."

His hiatus on social media wouldn't be that much of a setback to his multitude of devoted supporters as he also stressed that the pause is not the end of his career as a performer and that, much to the delight of his fans, a new album is on the horizon.

"To my fans, the 3rd album is on its way and is the best thing I've made thus far," the British singer vowed.

However, Ed Sheeran concluded his letter guaranteeing his return on social media, saying, "See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing."
