It seems Ed Sheeran wants to spend some time sans social media.
The "Thinking Out Loud" singer, Ed Sheeran, recently took to Instagram to announce that he has decided to take a break from the social media universe for some time.
"Hello all. I'm taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while," the 24-year-old British singer wrote, reported People Magazine.
Explaining the reason behind the decision, Ed Sheeran said that he is fed up of seeing the world through social media and now wants to see everything that he has missed during all these years through his eyes.
"I've had such an amazing ride over the last five years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so i'm taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed," the singer noted, according to Billboard.
The news of Sheeran taking a break from social media has left his 5 million Instagram followers, 16.1 million Twitter followers and 13.8 million Facebook fans in a state of shock.
The British singer said that even his friends and family will not be hearing from him. "If you love me, you will understand me buggering off for a bit," said Sheeran, reported JustJaredJr.
The singer reassured fans that his break from social media doesn't mean he will also keep himself away from creating new music.
The singer ended his farewell message with "see you all next autumn" after mentioning his third album, which he claimed is the best thing he has made so far.
Sheeran is also reported to undergo an operation to repair his burst eardrum next year. He sustained the injury after jumping off a yacht.
It is expected that fans might get a glimpse of their favorite singer at the 58th Grammy Awards, scheduled to be held on Feb. 15. Sheeran's song "Thinking Out Loud" has been nominated in the Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance category.
