Barely a week since Motorola started rolling out Android 6.0 to Moto X Pure Edition on US carriers, a good number of users may now be enjoying Marshmallow, said Android Central.
Anyone on Android knows that these updates sometimes do not go as planned but Motorola has the reputation of being among the first OEMs to push new version updates; and that is aside from manufacturing phones with impressive prices and specs.
A Motorola executive revealed that an official over-the-air release will come to the three devices which have been cleared for the update after the Marshmallow final testing phase to these devices, called the "soak test" was successful, as per the public sharing of Motorola Senior Director for Software Product Management David Schuster on his Google+ account.
He also said that US carrier Sprint, US Cellular and Verizon Wireless already released Marshmallow to Moto X Pure Edition.
Schuster wrote in his post that the official Marshmallow OTA will come very "soon" which may mean anytime this month after the conclusion of the soak test.
Aside from the newly released mobile devices, now running Android Marshmallow are Google Nexus and Android One. Venture Capital Post noted the OS accidentally updated in LG G4 in Poland.
A week after Moto X Pure Edition on Verizon, US Cellular and Sprint received the Marshmallow update, the new Android version started to land on Motorola Droid Turbo 2 Employee Edition, reported Phone Arena. The handset is exclusive to the employees of Verizon Wireless, the only carrier that sells Droid.
The Turbo 2 Employee Edition is similar to the regular Turbo 2, except that it is in red or black design. The regular Droid Turbo 2 will like get its update soon, maybe within this month.
Aside from Moto X Pure Edition, Marshmallow update is confirmed to land on Motorola Moto X Style 2015 or third-generation, Moto X Play 2015, Moto G 2015 or third-generation, Moto G 2014 or second-generation, Moto G with 4G LTE, Google Nexus 6, DROID Turbo, 2014 Moto Turbo, Moto MAXX 2014 and Moto X 2014 in Asia, Europe and Latin America.
Android Marshmallow comes with updates over its predecessor, Lollipop. It includes Doze which will lengthen battery longevity, a revamped settings menu, a better app permission, Google Now on Tap and a lot more.
