The new Skype version 6.8 for the iPad and iPhone is now on the App Store. It comes with an added support of the iOS sharing extensions for the Skype VoIP apps that run on the iPhone and the iPad to enable adding Skype in the Share menu across iOS to make sharing of links and photos easier, reported iMore.
According to Microsoft, the feature is great for sharing files, either it be photos, videos or documents with family members and friends, without the need to send the content through email. "Simply tap on a share button to send links from apps and websites or photos from your camera roll directly to a Skype contact - just select the friend you want to share with and send!" Microsoft said.
The new version of the Skype app is now available for a free download for iPad and iPhone users.
A post on the Skype blog said that Microsoft is bringing the Skype 6.8 update for the iPad and iPhone to bring to the users something fresh to enjoy and help get closer to their family and friends. To do the sharing through Skype, select the content to share, swipe to the "More" button, in "Activities," switch to sharing on Skype.
The feature comes handy especially during this holiday shopping season where people want to share more to their family and friends; either it be files, gift ideas or photos of family gatherings.
This means, sharing can be done at the speed of lightning as Skype 6.8 is just an intuitive way of sending files on an iPhone or iPad. Users of the iOS devices are allowed to share content from other apps as well.
It is noteworthy that Skype is also compatible with Apple Watch, said TechTimes.
