The legendary Hideo Kojima of the game world is finally free and signed with Sony and game enthusiasts are curious on what game he will be working on. So far, Kojima has not revealed anything about it yet but in an interview, he mentioned he would love to continue working with Guillermo del Torro.
The Mexican film producer remains to be his good friend and while they talked about "working together in the future" but that is not definite. "I have no idea what I'll be working on with him, if it'll be a game, an anime, a movie, but someday I definitely want to create something with him." Kojima said.
On the other hand, del Torro said earlier this year he walked away from video games because of the effect he has on those he partnered with. "I joined THQ, and THQ goes broke. I join Kojima, and Kojima leaves Konami. I have decided, in order not to destroy anyone else's life, I have decided I will never again get involved in video games. Otherwise, I'll join someone and his house will explode, or something," He stated.
According to Kotaku, it is still possible for del Torro to work with Hideo Kojima, on a game, especially now that Kojima has cut ties with Konami.
Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima worked together for "Silent Hills," a project that was canceled, much to del Torro's lament. IGN said del Torro likewise hopes to work with Kojima on a project again.
They could still work on something else with Kojima Productions now being recently formed as an independent studio and not anymore connected with Konami.
Hideo Kojima has not given any guarantees for a del Torro collaboration though they still discuss working "every now and then," but their partnership "needs to happen," according to actor Norman Reedus who briefly appeared in Silent Hill's playable teaser.
Meanwhile, Kojima joining Sony is a big deal for PlayStation fans. Being one of the industry's most celebrated developers, Sony indeed has reason to celebrate and its fans, to be excited about. Kojima is a big name in the creation of the "Metal Gear" series and "Castlevnia: Lords of Shadow."
Sony Computer Entertainment President and Global CEO Andrew House described Kojima as "one of the most creative talents in the history of games."
On the other hand Kojima said he is "thrilled to embark on creating a new franchise with PlayStation that will give you all a new and innovative gaming experience. Please stay tuned."
The contract between Hideo Kojima and Konami ended on Dec. 15, reported Uttoxeter. "Today marks a new start for me. I'm committed to be involved in creative activities for as long as I live." Kojima tweeted.
