Prince William and Kate Middleton have recently released a family portrait which will serve as the royal couple's Christmas card for this year.
The photo, which marked the first Christmas family portrait since the birth of Princess Charlotte, was released by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on Friday, according to a report by Us Magazine.
The family portrait shows Kate Middleton and Prince William posing on a lawn with their children, Prince George, aged 2, and his seven-month old sister, Princess Charlotte.
In the photo, both Prince William and Kate Middleton were seen crouching down to their children's level while Prince George stood smiling and facing the camera with his mom and little sister. Prince William's attention, however, was locked on his little boy who is wearing an adorable knitwear, blue shorts and knee-high socks.
In an interview with The Big Issue earlier this month, the proud daddy Prince William said of the little Prince that he thinks "George will be extremely bouncy this year because he's suddenly worked out what Christmas is all about" adding that "if [he] gets any sleep on Christmas Eve it'll be good."
The family portrait was released via the Kensington Palace with a statement of gratitude from the Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The statement said that both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge "are hugely appreciative of all the warm messages they have received about their family this year." It added that the royal couple "are very much looking forward to their first Christmas as a family of four."
Photographer Chris Jelf commissioned the photo shoot in the palace in late October. Upon the release of the family portrait, Jelf issued a statement describing the details of the royal pictorial.
"I thoroughly enjoyed photographing a very lovely family, although you have to be sharp as you don't have long when there are two young children involved!," the photographer said. "I hope everyone enjoys this photo and I am honored that The Duke and Duchess have decided to share it with the public."
As to how the royal family plans to spend their first Christmas together, an unnamed source told E! News that Prince William and Kate Middleton are planning "to not attend Christmas Day lunch at Sandringham with the queen and the rest of the royal family. Instead, the plan at the moment is to host the day's festivities in their own home."
