Is Ian Somerhalder taking Nina Dobrev's lead by also exiting "The Vampire Diaries?"

The CW series is allegedly in danger of being axed after it was transferred to the Friday night, a timeslot described as television purgatory reserved for shows about to be cancelled.

On Dec. 2, Ian Somerhalder tweeted, "Hi Twitterverse. Been taking a moment to process all that's going on around me...Have a bunch to say.Talk soon... Love, Ian."

One fan wrote, "Take a moment...just breath...in some days we have to stop to see the things that we have around clear."

"Sometimes that's what we need to be able to come back Fresh and Clear...We'll be listening when You're Ready #HaveFaith," one of his followers added.

Another voiced out what everybody fears, that Ian Somerhalder might leave "The Vampire Diaries." "Are you leaving?" the fan asked.

But Celebrity Dirty Laundry took Ian Somerhalder's cryptic tweet to mean that Nikki Reed's husband is following Nina Dobrev's lead and exit "The Vampire Diaries" on a high note.

"Ian Somerhalder is undoubtedly worried," the article said. "Ian and Nikki Reed are likely working to save Somerhalder's career post-TVD. Nikki has been pushing Ian to quit the show before it's cancelled so he can at least claim he left versus being fired. The sad truth is that it appears to be that Ian's character, Damon, can't carry the show and Dobrev is needed to make the show's formula work."

Melty claimed that the new timeslot doesn't bode well for Ian Somerhalder and "The Vampire Diaries" after it was transferred to Friday nights.

"Beginning January 29 the vampires that we've come to know and love are skating on thin ice as the series' future seasons hang in the ratings balance," it said.

"Following TVD leading lady Nina Dobrev's departure from the show last season, the series has got a major reboot with a fresh new look and feel."
