Actor Lee Joon Ki starred in the MBC drama "Two Weeks". His character Jang Tae San went through an emotional rollercoaster over the course of the drama, from being accused of murder to finding a daughter he never knew he had.
Due to the actor's dedication and investment in portraying his part, it manifested in the his life off-screen, and in a recent interview, he talked about his difficulties and the depression he went through after filming the drama.
"I opted out of schedules so that I could rest after the drama, but now I think it was a mistake. I wouldn't be consumed with emotions had I been preoccupied with work. I felt down and depressed."
He continued, "I was fine after the drama ended, and I was actually proud after all the news articles praising my acting. But after a while, I started feeling sad, and without me realizing, this sadness caused greater mood swings for me which eventually escalated to depression."
To cope with what he was going through, Lee Joon Ki revealed, "I felt alone so I would often go out and have a drink with friends. However, after parting ways with them, I realize that it did nothing to alleviate the sadness, and I would feel sad all over again. "
"I keep thinking that the after effects are lasting longer, but I understand that I only need time to resolve this. However, as of this moment, I am depressed."
Lee Joon Ki is courageously his struggles by meeting with his fans in Korea, Japan and China through a series of performances and events.
