Kim So Eun is a free agent after the actress decided against renewing her exclusive contract with Fantagio.

According to a report published by Sports Donga, the 26-year-old actress is currently seeking new management, following the expiration of her Fantagio contract in December 2015.

"[Kim] is in contact with entertainment management specializing in influential actors," said a spokesperson for Fantagio, in a statement provided to Sports Donga.

Kim debuted as a teen actress with minor film and television roles, including her appearance as young Song Jung Hee in MBC's 2005 weekday series, "Sisters of the Sea."

Kim is best known for her portrayal of Chu Ga Eul, a supporting role in the 2009 Hallyu hit, "Boys Over Flowers."

She followed the supporting role with the KBS primetime romantic comedy, "He Who Can't Marry" and appeared in several other dramas, before receiving praise as the leading lady of tvN's psychological drama, "Lying Game."

In 2014, her career was revitalized through her appearance on MBC's celebrity romance variety show, "We Got Married," where she appeared with Song Jae Rim. The popular pair, which were known by the nickname, The LTE couple, remained on the fourth season of the program for 38 episodes.

Kim returned to K-Drama in 2015 with a dual role in the MBC period drama, "Scholar Who Walks the Night," opposite Lee Joon Gi, Lee Yoo Bi, and Lee Soo Hyuk.

"Scholar Who Walks the Night" was met with lukewarm reception, but Kim was praised later in the year, for her role in the Samsung web series, "Falling for Challenge," which romantically paired the seasoned star with EXO's Xiumin.

She also marked 2015 by accepting the role of the leading lady in "Sky Latern," a Chinese-Korean co-production film, starring popular Taiwanese acting idol, Aaron Yan.

Kim is the second K-Drama star to announce their free agency in 2016, following the departure of Lee Jong Suk from management under Wellmade Yedang.
