Is this a banner year for Katy Perry? John Meyer’s sweetheart, Katy Perry may be feeling in a cloud right now as experts predicts her album, “Prism” is set for the number one spot on Billboard next week with and her sales is expected to break her own record. The singer’s latest album is calculated with an impressive 275,000 copies sold.

The new figure is significantly higher than the recorded first-week sales of Katy’s previous albums. Her latest album, “Teenage Dream,” noted Huffington Post opened with only 192,000 copies sold in 2010. Still citing a report by Nielsen SoundScan, the Huffington Post also pointed out that her other album, “One of the Boys,” recorded 47,000 copies on its debut in 2008.

The success of “Prism” has been compared to the astounding record made by Miley Cyrus’s “Bangerz,” which records show, had sold 270,000 when released in early October 2013. If Russell Brand’s ex-wife will push it, her album may have a chance to outsell Miley’s latest album.

But “Prism” has already been showing promise when compared to other artists and their albums. These include:
Ariana Grande's "Yours Truly" (138,000)
Vampire Weekend's "Modern Vampires of the City" (134,000)
Selena Gomez's "Stars Dance" (97,000)

The Huffington Post noted however, that Perry’s “Prism” may still fall behind other great artists with hit albums that sold more than half a million copies when released. These include:
Drake's "Nothing Was the Same" (658,000)
Jay Z's "Magna Carta Holy Grail" (528,000)
Justin Timberlake's "The 20/20 Experience" (968,000)
Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories" (339,000)

Billboard is set to release the official chart sales, which covers until Sunday this week, on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
