Jamie Dornan is the new Christian Grey in the film adaptation of the Fifty Shades of Grey.

E.L. James herself confirmed this great news on her Twitter account by saying: "Stow your twitchy palms ladies...our man is here Welcome to #TeamFifty @JamieDornan1."

The 31-year-old beat out several actors wanting the coveted role of Christian Grey after Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the movie.

"The audition process was an embarrassment of riches," a source told Us Weekly. "There were some fierce performances!"

However, it seemed that Dornan was the fiercest of them all. "Everyone trusts that he'll make an excellent Christian and will do the role justice," the source said. "His contract is set -- this has the potential to make him a huge star."

There are also a lot of Dornan supporters who gave the Irish actor their congratulations. Bret Easton Ellis, a novelist and screenwriter, tweeted on Oct. 24: "I think that Jamie Dornan is the perfect choice to play Christian Grey in FIFTY SHADES OF GREY. Smartest casting decision in a long time."

Lena Dunham also shared her congratulations on her Twitter account: "I'm a monstrous @JamieDornan1 fan. Wasn't allowed to be attracted to him on The Fall bc he played a sexmurderer. 50 Shades is my big chance. Wait, Christian Grey isn't a murderer right?"
