1. Itaewon Class (JTBC)
The "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim" star Park Seo-Joon will portray a ordinary person living an ordinary life who faces whatever trials given to him just to achieve his dreams. The story of this drama is based on the very famous webtoon of the same name, Itaewon Class. The story follows the lead role's journey to achieving his dream in setting up a restaurant in Itaewon.
His perseverance will be tested since setting up his dream restaurant requires more than just his entrepreneurial skills but also he has to face challenges that the unjust society throws at him. On the other hand, award-winning movie actress Kim Da-mi who plays the role of a social media influencer who becomes the manager of his restaurant. The series is written by Jo Gwang-jin who is the original writer and illustrator of the webtoon. Itaewon Class is one of the five new Korean dramas that will premiere in January 2020.
2. Hi, Bye Mama! (tvN)
"Hi, Bye Mama!" signify the first drama of Kim Tae-hee (Yong-pal) in almost five years. And this signals the ever-rising popularity of Lee Kyu-hyung (Doctor John), who's taking on his first lead role in a prime-time series.
This fantasy drama focuses on a mother (Kim) who has passed away because of an unfortunate accident but was given the chance to be with her family again for a limited time of 49 days. Lee plays the role of her husband and a thoracic surgeon who is trying hard to cope up with her death. The story comes from the writer and director who gave us Go Back Couple and Hundred Million Stars From The Sky, respectively. The drama expected to be aired in February after the finale of Crash Landing On You.
3. Wise Doctor Life (tvN)
The" Wise Doctor Life" is a Medical drama that centers on the ordinary hospital employees and patients that go about their daily routines at the hospital. This is the brand new project of Producing Director (PD) Shin Won-ho who also directed "Prison Playbook". The screenwriter Lee Woo-Jung has teamed up with him to write the script of this upcoming drama. According to director Shin, this drama is a story of people who lives and goes through an atmosphere that is filled with birth of a new life, the old age, sickness and also death.
The" Wise Doctor Life" series stars Jo Jung , Jung Kyung-ho, Yoo Yeon-seok , Kim Dae-myung , and Jeon Mi-do. They play the role of five long-time friends who attended the same medical school in 1999 and now work together in one hospital.
4. Secret
The last time we heard about the upcoming drama "Secret" was in August 2019. Some sources say that the production team had already wrapped up filming after six months of hard work. But four months have gone by and the pre-produced drama did not yet announce the confirmed premiere month. Probably the drama is going to be broadcasted next year, so we decided to include it in this list of the biggest Korean dramas to look forward to in 2020.
This drama series features Park Hae-jin from the film Man To Man as a mergers and acquisitions specialist who becomes a special rescue team member and dedicates his life to saving others. Starring with him is actress Jo Bo-ah from My Strange Hero, who plays the role of a doctor.
