Kwon Nara's excellent acting skills in 'Itaewon Class' and several other dramas make her a superstar-in-the-making. Let us get to know her more.
Kwon Nara, born as Kwon Ah-yoon, started her career in the entertainment industry as a member of the girl group called 'Hello Venus', which debuted in May of 2012. They made bops and their debut mini album 'Venus' clinched the number 35 spot on Gaon chart. In 2019, the group disbanded after their contracts in Fantagio Entertainment expired. Soon enough, Kwon Nara also transitioned from singing to acting and joined the A-Man Entertainment.
When she was still active as an idol, Kwon Nara made cameo roles in selected Korean drama series, such as in 'Take Care of Us, Captain' and 'I Need Romance'. Then, she made her breakthrough in the 2017 SBS legal and romance drama 'Suspicious Partner', alongside Ji Chang Wook, Nam Ji Hyun and Choi Tae Joon. She continued to do supporting roles, such as in tVN's 'My Mister' and SBS's 'Your Honor', both of which are in 2018.
Then, she got her big break when she landed a lead role in KBS's 'Doctor Prisoner' in 2019. And because of her impressive performance in this drama, she won the Best Actress titles in 12th Korea Drama Awards and 33rd KBS Drama Awards in the same year.
Even her personal life became interesting to fans, especially when she was linked to actor Lee Jong Suk. According to reports, both of them are under the same agency. Rumor had it that the actor made moves to have Nara join him under A-Man. Pictures of them together were posted on social media as well. Their agency, however, was quick to deny that they're dating.
In 'Itaewon Class', Kwon Nara plays the character of Oh Soo Ah, head of the strategic planning team and the executive secretary in Jangga Corporation. Her role is also Park Sae Roy's (Park Seo Joon) first love. Strong and smart, she always works hard and follows all Chairman Dae Hee's decisions against DanBam. In one episode, she asked Park Sae Roy to stop going after Jangga Co and be with her, but to no avail. He insisted on continuing his quest to overpower Chairman Dae Hee.
Wearing dark red lips and fierce eye makeup gave life to her executive look. Recently, pictures circulated of Kwon Nara with no makeup and a clean fresh look.
The drama series airs every Friday and Saturday from JTBC and Netflix. Only 4 episodes remaining before 'Itaewon Class' ends.
