Mun Yeong (Seo Ye Ji) spent her childhood in a big mansion that her father built in celebration of her birth. It wasn't a blissful memory for her, an only child with successful parents.
The latest episode of the number one trending drama "It's Okay To Not Be Okay" gave viewers a glimpse of the mansion.
Mun Yeong is a celebrity and a children's book author. Her father was a well-known professor of Korean language at a top university. Now an old man, he suffers from dementia and is admitted to OK Psychiatric Hospital.
Her mother is a famous mystery novelist, who had had a great influence during her childhood years. It's forbidden to talk about her late mother's death, which has something to do with the mansion called "cursed castle."
The castle, as described in the drama, is located in a remote forest far from the villagers. In the story, the mansion exudes a grey and gloomy atmosphere. It has been abandoned and lifeless when Mun Yeong chose to live in Seoul with all her commitments as a celebrity writer.
Dust, cobwebs, elegant chandeliers, and all white sheets covered the whole furniture. Mun Yeong walks in and sleeps in her room while getting nightmares of her mother. The whole scene gives a freakish and creepy feeling even by watching it.
Meanwhile, netizens are now curious about the filming location of Mun Yeong's "cursed castle."
Surprising, it's actually a cafe located in Gangwon Province in South Korea.
The production team did a great job of creating a place that gives a whole different meaning to the character and story itself. The exterior of the castle where it looks huge, dark grey stones, and a garden growing unnaturally. The outside exterior of the castle is built in the set and only then enhanced with the use of CGI (computer-generated imagery - special visual effects created using computer software).
The place where they filmed is located on the Sanida Cafe grounds in Gangwon Province. It takes approximately two hours of bus travel from Seoul.
As per the Sanida Cafe website, a gate designed and built at the ground entrance complete the doorway to the mansion. The production house Studio Dragon is Korea's first and largest scripted television studio. They are responsible as producers for "The King: Eternal Monarch" and "Legend of the Blue Sea." They handled the creator and developer for dramas like "Crash Landing On you" and "It's Okay To Not be Okay."
So, the audience can expect good cinematography and real-like locations for this series. With the combination of good actors and great visual effects, they will make the storyline way, way better!
