Jang Dong Geon enthusiastically shared details of his drinking habit and relationship with his wife, actress Ko So Young, in his recent appearance on entertainer Shin Dong Yeob's YouTube show "Zzan Bro," which was aired on October 7.
There, both he and actress Kim Hee Ae, who was another guest on the show, talked about struggles with alcohol that they experienced over the years.
Kim revealed a story that happened to her in her twenties, which led her to the emergency room because of too much drinking. She quoted the gentle advice of one of the respected actors, who said, "To be a true actor, you have to be able to drink well."
Since the actress considered the hospital trip rather embarrassing, she started practicing the advice.
Jang also disclosed that he felt compelled to consume large quantities of alcohol when he debuted when he was in his early twenties.
"I wonder if it's something you can get better at over time because it feels like I drink more now," he said.
When Sul Kyung Gu pointed out that Jang now drinks more, he replied, "I used to have a hard time with drinking, but I really enjoy it these days." Shin later asked Jang if Ko So Young drinks in the same way.
Jang clarified, "My wife is the type who picks a specific day to drink and goes all out, often to the point where she's completely wiped out the next day. But that's just not me. I just have a can of beer at home every day."
He also mentioned a recent broadcast where the wife vented her anger with her husband's stubbornness, saying, "It annoys me when a good-looking guy doesn't listen to me." Jang agreed, "Yeah, I can be pretty stubborn."
He then smiled, "But you know, my wife often responds with something like 'Hey, but I'm Ko So Young!" Despite that, Jang stressed that he and his wife were fine and quickly resolved their disagreements."Since we're the same age and were friends before we got married, we often have our little disagreements. But we're good," the actor said with a smile.
