It also reduces stress and adds happiness. Moreover, Korean variety shows gained popularity since it presents another side of celebrities in an unstructured but entertaining way.

Recently the Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month's brand reputation rankings for variety shows. The said category provides consumer participation, media coverage, community awareness, and viewership. It covered indexes of 50 popular variety programs, using the data collected from July 1 to August 1.

The MBC's "How Do You Play?" which started in July 2019 topped this month's list with a brand reputation index of 10,745,594, marking a 10.98 increase in its score since July 2020. Hosted by Yoo Jae Suk, SSAK3, and Lee Hyori, it is highly-anticipated among Korean households. The show provides positive and negative analysis, including debut, recordings, and donation drive, revealing a score of 70.50 percent positive reactions.

Another MBC creation, "Home Alone" (I Live Alone), took second place in the rankings with a brand reputation index of 10,438,180, while TV Chosun's "Love Call Center" followed close behind with a total index of 10,357,220 for August.
