The upcoming youth drama of tvN will surely inspire the young generation to pursue their dreams. "Start-up" has recently released some stills of their main leads, Suzy and Nam Joo Hyuk, portraying their characters.
This new drama is placed in South Korea's fictional Silicon Valley called Sandbox. "Start-up" will center its story on the world of startup companies. Actress Bae Suzy will portray the character of Seo Dal Mi, who aims to become the Korean version of the tech mogul, Steve Jobs. She's an outgoing person who isn't rich by has big plans for herself. Seo Dal Mi decided to drop out of her university because of financial needs and takes up part-time jobs. She is well experienced when it comes to part-time.
Nam Joo Hyuk's character, on the other hand, is named Nam Do San. He is the founder and CEO of the technology company named Samsan Tech. Nam Do San is known to be the family's pride because of his math ability. However, his company is already failing, and he badly needs help immediately. Both characters will cross paths, and eventually, they will help and encourage each other in their startup business.
As seen in the drama's sneak peek, Seo Dal Mi and Nam Do San looks tired and worn out as they ride the subway separately. Seo Dal Mi's personality has always been relentlessly confident and is a positive girl in her work and keeps her positive aura even in front of her older sister Won In Jae (played by Kang Han Na), whose life be so much opposition from Seo Dal Mi after she becomes a chaebol heiress. She looks so exhausted as she holds the pole looking a bit tired on the subway train.
As for Nam Do San, we see him looking down on the floor as an awkward loner who's just feeling really disappointed with what he turned out to be. When he was still in high school, Nam Do San was known to be a smartass who was the center of attention for becoming the youngest winner of a math Olympiad but now, his self-confidence has just drained. He is now unable to even look other people straight in the eye.
Moving forward, the drama's producers expressed that though their life may seem down at the moment, hope is not lost for Seo Dal Mi and Nam Do San. As a matter of fact, both characters will help each other gather up their strength to stand up and fight. Seo Dal Mi will actually give inspiration to Nam Do San to stand back up and return to his former glory so that he can shine brightly once more.
The producers also commented that both characters represent today's youth, that though they fail at some point, they can always stand up and shine bright again in the future at any time. Everyone, please look forward to witnessing what kinds of changes will take place for these two very different people once their paths cross.
"Start-Up" is scheduled to premiere on October 17 at 9:00 p.m. KST, be sure not to miss it!
