On October 23, a source has reported that Seo Ye Ji is currently working on choosing her next project, and she is in talks to make her comeback on the small screen with a new OCN drama titled 'Island.'
Gold Medalist, the actress' agency, confirmed that they had received the offer for actress Seo Ye Ji to star in the lead role of OCN's new Drama Island, and she's in the process of reviewing it. "Island" is a fantasy drama that centers its story on the hidden secrets of a wonderful place located in the South Sea, Jeju Island. On this island is where creatures known as Goblins have been staying and waiting for a chance to destroy human beings for a long time.
Moving forward, Seo Ye Ji is said to have been offered the role of Won Mi-Ho, a girl born from a rich family, an heiress who is the only daughter of the chairman of Korea Group. She is a bit reckless and arrogant, but also she is a woman who always looks and feels sad from the inside. Won Mi-Ho has been "exiled" to Jeju Island after being involved in a controversy and made headlines for the worst "gapjil case" (gapjil is an expression referring to an arrogant and authoritarian attitude or actions of people in South Korea who are using abuse of their powers).
She was assigned as the ethics teacher at Tamago High School. Eventually, her life begins to take a drastic change after encountering monsters, and is targeted by the goblins as their prey. Her only savior and protector from the monsters' claws are the so-called 'monster-hunter.' The drama will put the puzzles of their fate and destiny together.
OCN's "Island" is reportedly going to be a 10-episode drama scheduled to premiere in the first half of 2021.
Seo Ye Ji was born on April 6, 1990. The 30-year-old actress started her career in the entertainment industry through the sitcom Potato Star 2013QR3 (2013-2014). Following this, Seo Ye Ji got her major roles in the period drama Diary of a Night Watchman (2014) and thriller Last (2015). She was also able to gain recognition for her portrayals in television series include Moorim School: Saga of the Brave (2016), Save Me (2017), Lawless Lawyer (2018).
Fast forward to January 2020, the actress signed a contract with Gold Medalist together with actors Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron. The same year, she starred as the main female lead alongside highest paid actor Kim Soo-hyun in tvN's hit romantic drama titled It's Okay to Not Be Okay (2020) . Seo Ye Ji portrayed the character of Ko Moon Young, a bestselling children's book author who is suffering from a personality disorder. Due to her amazing performance in the drama, Seo Ye Ji's career was boosted and she experienced a rise in popularity. She has attracted media attention not only in South Korean but overseas as well.
